Unfair bank charges have long been levied on individuals for late payments, unauthorised overdrafts, returned cheques or unpaid direct debits. Such was the outcry and criticism of such inflated charges that the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) intervened. In 2006, the OFT indicated that all bank charges over £12 should be deemed unfair and that going forward bank charges should reflect the true cost incurred through the processing of them.
Overcharged by your bank?
But what if you, like thousands of others, have already fallen victim to unfair penalty charges? We believe it’s time to fight back against the banks and that’s why we’ve already helped over 1000 people reclaim excessive bank charges previously incurred. We could help you too!
We can help you claim back any charges incurred within the last 6 years and better still we’ll also calculate the interest on your charges. We can also recover charges from accounts that are no longer active.
It’s a simple process that usually takes up to 20 weeks from start to finish (the banks don’t like to move quickly!).
The Process
If you have been on the receiving end of excessive bank charges and would like us to recover the money which is rightfully yours then you need to do the following:-
1)Contact one of our specialist advisors either by phone or by filling out our quick enquiry form. They will talk you through your rights and how we can help.
2)You will need to request a list of all your bank charges from the previous 6 years, or if you would prefer, you can authorise us to request these on your behalf. Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you are entitled to get from your bank a list of any charges imposed over the past six years. Banks can legally charge a fee for this which is a maximum of £10.
3)We will contact your bank / building society on your behalf and request that they refund the charges incurred and we will negotiate on your behalf. In the majority of cases we have seen the banks comply with no necessity for further action.
4)If further action is required, we will help you to prepare your case for either the county court or the Financial Ombudsman Service. It is extremely rare that the banks will take matters this far. In the overwhelming majority of cases, the banks have paid the charges back before the matter gets as far as the court.
5)Only upon successful recovery of your bank charges will we take payment for our services (see Frequently Asked Questions).
So call us today - the call is FREE - and get back what is yours.
